They are getting popular with these professionals as they fit into a vast variety of designs of homes and offices. But, it’s very intriguing to know that a majority of the patrons of these carpets are not aware how and from where they arrived on the scene. Nor do many know how they derived their name.
These carpets were so named because they were first made by a tribe of the same name from North Africa. This tribe was known for making carpets from a bulky but very well textured type of woolen thread. Fortunately that yarn survives till the day. The technique employed for making Berber carpets prevents them from getting damaged too easily. The double loops employed in the making of these tiles hold the carpet backing sturdily than conventional carpets with single attachment at the backing. The robustness of the carpet makes it easy to remove stains and it takes much longer before they begin to show signs of wear and tear. Looking to these characteristics, particularly a longer life makes these carpet tiles more economical than other carpet tiles. Considering that these are made from wool that is generally expected to be a more expensive material doesn’t that sound out of place!

Berber carpet tiles will successfully provide you years of service if you treat them with respect. You must be careful while cleaning them and ensure that you don’t happen to snag any yarn, else it will get tattered. As the whole carpet is connected together, unraveling of any part may lead to the collapse of the whole tile. Anther precaution you should take is to use light force while vacuuming it.

Perhaps what makes it al the more favorite of designers is the availability in a vast variety of colors that facilitates their being used almost anywhere to add beauty to the floor. You can have them in pastel shades, earthen tones or standard dyes. That gives a great flexibility to any designer. Any carper for that matter can be used to cover the irregularities of the floor but Berber carpets have a built in characteristic of better concealing irregularities like bumps or warps in wood.
